Henry Chan, is a Canadian political commentator, grassroots advocate, and a young leader whose work bridges policy expertise, frontline activism, and generational leadership.
At just 23, Henry has already accomplished what many would consider a lifetime of civic engagement. He has run for office at both the municipal and provincial levels, knocking on over 16,000 doors during his municipal campaign and placing second out of eight candidates despite limited resources. He has also worked on Parliament Hill as a Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of Parliament and the former Shadow Minister of International Development and has been invited to testify before Parliament on foreign interference, Canada–China relations, and human rights.
Henry’s advocacy has not only been recognized nationally but has also shaped real policy. As co-director of Saskatchewan Stands with Hong Kong, he organized and spoke at over 100 lobbying meetings in Ottawa. His leadership is credited with helping achieve the Hong Kong lifeboat scheme, as well as advancing Bill C-70 — landmark legislation addressing foreign interference.
For his volunteerism and impact in shaping Canadian policy, Henry was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal. His insights have been featured in national publications, and he continues to be a respected voice on Canada-China relations, the Indo-Pacific, and the challenges of safeguarding Canada’s institutions.
