Henry Chan is a Canadian political commentator and grassroots advocate currently serving as Chair of the Saskatoon West Business Association. His work bridges public policy, frontline advocacy, and generational leadership, with a focus on civic engagement, Canada–China relations, and strengthening democratic institutions.
In his twenties, Henry has already built an extensive record of public service and political involvement. He has run for office at both the municipal and provincial levels, knocking on more than 16,000 doors during his municipal campaign and placing second among eight candidates despite limited resources. He also worked on Parliament Hill as a Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of Parliament and former Shadow Minister for International Development.
As co-director of Saskatchewan Stands with Hong Kong, Henry organized and participated in more than 100 lobbying meetings in Ottawa advocating for democracy, human rights, and stronger responses to foreign interference. His advocacy contributed to the development of Canada’s Hong Kong lifeboat pathway and broader national discussions surrounding foreign interference legislation, including Bill C-70.
Henry has also been invited to testify before Parliament on issues relating to foreign interference, Canada–China relations, and human rights. In recognition of his volunteerism and contributions, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal. His commentary and insights continue to be featured in national discussions on the Indo-Pacific, democratic resilience, and public policy.
